The Remington Road pump tested negative for both total coliform and for fecal coliform, and is deemed suitable for human consumption without further treatment.  The outlet at Spring Pond tested positive for total coliform and negative for fecal coliform, and is deemed not potable without chemical treatment or boiling prior to human consumption. The outlet at Spring Pond is posted as being non-potable until further notice.

Water that contains total coliform bacteria is NOT in compliance with the EPA Total Coliform Rule (54 FR 27544-27568, June 29, 1989, Vol. 54, No. 124). Total coliform bacteria has been detected which makes the Spring Pond water potentially unsafe. This sample has only been analyzed for TOTAL COLIFORM BACTERIA and the FECAL COLIFORM BACTERIA known as Escherichia coli. Coliform bacteria, while relatively harmless themselves, are almost always present in water containing enteric (relating to the intestines) pathogens. Because they are relatively easy to isolate and typically survive longer than the disease-producing organisms, coliforms are a useful indicator of the possible presence of enteric pathogenic bacteria and viruses.
