Code Enforcement

Last Updated: 09 February 2025

Most code enforcement is the county responsibility. The board can only do so much. If you have an issue that you believe warrants enforcement, besides brining it to the attention of the This email address is being protected from spambots. This is something that should be done vigilantly. Their responsiveness has been somewhat lax in the past, but with this new form, and hopefully  new accountability, they may answer owners concerns more readily. There is a lot more information about Code enforcement on the Park County Web Site

Lone tree spring pond project

Last Updated: 29 June 2025
Bradley Norton spearheaded the Lone tree spring pond project.
With Rick Eastlund digging out years of old pond/swamp grass.

The project consisted of piping the water from the Lone tree spring directly into the pond.

As the swamp grows, dies, then grows again, it builds itself higher and higher, blocking the natural flow of the water from the spring to the pond. A new channel was trenched in two sections to get water actually flowing, and 400’ of PVC pipe was laid and buried to help raise the water level in the pond. The work was successful and raised the water in the pond over a foot in the first two days.

Bison-Buffalo

Yes, we know this it technically a Bison, but the word buffalo is firmly embedded in our North American culture from years of use so we don’t get pedantic about common names. In fact, some of us even celebrate the variation in local names for the wildlife we encounter on our tours. “Bison Bill Cody” just doesn’t roll off the tongue like “Buffalo Bill Cody”. And who would change the CU football team to the "Colorado Bison"?  And ultimately, it means the same thing anyway.

Buffalo comes from the French for beef animal or ox, “boeuf”.  And bison comes from the Greek word for beef animal or ox. We encourage folks to use whichever word they feel comfortable with. After all, our shaggy friends don’t care what you call them!
